Dynasol researchers explain the benefits of the application of advanced gel permeation chromatography to the characterization of styrenic copolymers.
Dynasol Group researchers, Luis Rodríguez-Guadarrama and Roberto Fernández Pérez explain the benefits on how the application of advanced gel permeation chromatography helps to the detailed characterization of styrenic copolymers in comparison with conventional techniques on Rubber World’s January issue.
The article explains the two different approaches used to determine that a multi-detector GPC/SEC system could measure the total styrene concentration in styrenic copolymers with high accuracy.
The multidetector GPC is an advanced analytical technique that allows to determine in precise way the absolute molecular weight distribution of polymers and at the same time their composition (styrene concentration). Multidetector system consists of two high precision concentration detectors (ultra-violet and refractive index), one light scattering and one viscosimetric.
This analytical technique allows laboratories to determine the composition, distribution and the total styrene concentration in styrenic copolymers simultaneously.
