Dynasol Group participates in SusChem Spain session “Materials for energy storage”
Today, we had the opportunity to share with SusChem Spain, in the session “Materials for energy storage”, our view on how Dynasol Group can contribute to the development of new solutions for energy storage systems with improved sustainability, as a critical area on current energy transition through the implementation of more friendly materials. Our researcher Iñaki Gomez explained our capabilities and main developments on this area.

SusChem Spain is the Technological Innovation Platform in Sustainable Chemistry that aims to boost the R&D in chemistry in Spain, promoting the use of Sustainable Chemistry new technologies and services. In this regard, this platform serves as a link between R&D centers (universities and technological centers) with chemical industry companies to promote joint actions and collaborative projects that answer the actual and future social challenges. In its 15 years, SusChem Spain has achieved remarkable advances in terms of cooperation, research, development and knowledge generation in the field of Sustainable Chemistry.
During 2021, SusChem Spain aligned its R&D working groups towards the update of the Strategic Innovation and Research Agenda from SusChem Europe. The aim is to boost collaborative public-private projects in Sustainable Chemistry framed in the new Science, Technology, and Innovation Spanish Strategy for 2021-2027 and the new Horizon Europe framework program for the period 2021-2027. This update stablishes five working groups, which will set the trend for the research streams in sustainable chemistry in Spain in the following years:
- Bioeconomy in the chemical industry.
- Catalysis. Reactor and processes design.
- CO2 as raw material.
- Advanced materials and nanotechnology.
- Chemical waste revalorization.
Within this initiative, the first encounter of Advanced materials and nanotechnology working group took place on January 25th of 2022, focused on the development of new materials for energy generation and storage. During this event, researchers from different companies, research centers and universities shared the last advances of their research projects, aiming to find synergies between different knowledge areas and promote new collaborative projects. The principal discussed topics were focused on materials for thermal and electrochemical energy storage.
In this context, Iñaki Gomez on behalf of Dynasol R&D group, presented the capabilities and principal material development of Dynasol group, in the area of electrochemical energy storage. Specifically, how the styrene block copolymers (SBCs) can contribute to the development of new solutions for more sustainable energy storage systems; pointing out the possibilities opened by the critical technologies under development for the global decarbonization challenges.
This has been the first contact with the new SusChem Spain working groups, searching for synergies and opportunities for sustainable developments in Spanish chemical industry. In this way, Dynasol will keep on participating actively in the areas in with it could offer new technological solutions for a more sustainable future.”
